It's melodramatic and turns this fun play into a 1984 meets Hunger Games meets Handmaid's Tale nightmare. I don't think Shakespeare exists in any of those worlds and this movie is proof of why. But I was bored and decided to give it a shot, and I'm glad I did. The cast was simply fantastic, the visuals superb (especially for a tv movie), and the updated story was as delightfully queer as a romantic comedy fairy tale should be.
